How You Be? Radical Visioning as Black Leaders

HOW YOU BE?

RADICAL VISIONING AS BLACK LEADERS

When Black folks step into greater power and responsibility, they often inherit old visions and outdated traditions of enacting leadership that don't necessarily align with or fully capture their brilliance, values, and potential. Furthermore, Black leaders generally have few opportunities to commune with their peers or receive thought partnership on shared day-to-day struggles. This learning series provides the time, spaciousness, peer support, and resources for Black people in leadership to grow their creativity and vision in order to reground in their purpose and increase their transformative impact on the organizations, communities, and movements they lead.

Participants can expect to connect and build community with other Black leaders to create and refine their visions for the future, explore their purpose, and garner ancestral  + daily self-care practices to support their personal sustainability. Participants will also unpack how oppression impacts their relationship to power and map out tangible next steps for materializing their visions of leadership.

This series is open to Black people in leadership roles who can impact transformational change within their organizations, communities, and movements. This offering is for Black folks only.

Training participants will:

  • Engage in a supportive Black community that helps them unlearn the limiting scripts of white supremacy culture, patriarchy, and capitalism
  • Identify and interrogate their powerless and powerful identities
  • Develop and deepen a somatics practice
  • Draw from ancestral wisdom and wisdom from nature to fuel their leadership
  • Create and chart their visions for leadership using two tools: Wish/Outcome/Obstacle/Plan (WOOP) and Individual Development Plan (IDP)

Get ready to participate! Our virtual trainings come alive with everyone's participation and willingness to engage. Please come prepared to share your experiences, creativity, questions, and challenges with us and each other. There will be a mix of small and large group discussions, sharing and trying on tangible tools, practicing somatics-based exercises (grounding in the body), art and music, storytelling, political education, celebration, and more!

Please note: This is a three-part series that takes place on Zoom in Pacific time. Check dates carefully before you commit to make sure you can attend all three parts.
