This is a live, online event where you’ll participate actively with other attendees!

Registration for this training is offered on a sliding scale depending on your individual and organizational access to financial resources. Our sliding scale is an intentional effort to distribute resources equitably between organizations and individuals we work with. If your personal or organizational budget allows, please pay the Sustain or Redistribution cost so we can keep registration accessible for leaders and organizations who may not be in the same position. Greater access strengthens us all!

Coaching helps put into practice the idea that the people closest to the problem have the solutions. When we coach each other, we center self-determination, create space for accountability, and unlock each other’s gifts.

Patriarchy, white supremacy, and capitalism thrive when “solutions” are imposed on our bodies and our communities without our participation or consent. For BIPOC leaders especially, coaching skills can be a powerful way to bring our wisdom, experiences, and creativity front and center.

Who is this training for?

This is a space for participants who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color

We hope that these trainings will invite BIPOC leaders to build power by building community, share more honestly about the challenges they face, and deepen their learning by sharing time and space with their peers. For white participants, we ask that you respect the intention of this space by registering for versions of these offerings that don’t have BIPOC-only in the title: www.compasspoint.org/workshops.

This is a space for people who work at nonprofit organizations and/or in social justice movement spaces who want to learn and practice basic coaching skills. This offering is not limited to positional leaders, but can be especially helpful if you’re a manager or supervisor. If you’re responsible for the growth and development of others on your team, you’ll likely find coaching skills and mindsets valuable. If you’re a leader in your organization or community helping others to reflect, grow, and tap into their own internal resources and strengths in order to overcome challenges, come learn and practice coaching skills with us!

In this four-part series, you will:

  • Learn the coaching mindset (“How attitude, openness, and the outlook create the right space for others’ discovery and development”)
  • Build on your communication abilities through three key coaching skills (“deeper/engaged listening,” “inquiry,” and “championing”)
  • Learn how coaching interrupts dominating behavior and builds power with others
  • Practice, practice, practice!

Get ready to participate!

Our trainings come alive with your participation and willingness to engage. Please be ready to participate in group discussions and share your experience, creativity, questions, and challenges with us. In particular, you will practice coaching skills with other participants (both as a coach and coachee). We'll share visual and verbal information, make time for group discussions, and create other opportunities for real-time participation.

This is a multi-day offering. Please make sure you can attend all dates before registering and that you are familiar with our cancellation policy.

Accessibility is very important to us! Closed captioning will be provided. If you require specific accommodations (for example, receiving screen reader-friendly versions of learning materials ahead of time), please notify us at workshops@compasspoint.org two weeks in advance of the scheduled offering so that we can do our best to meet your needs. ASL interpretation is not provided unless requested.

In order to build community and protect confidentiality in the space, we do not record our workshops. If you miss a training date, we cannot provide you with a recording of the training.

Planning on purchasing five or more registrations at once? You’re eligible for a 20% discount off your order total.  For more information on bulk discount eligibility, please visit our FAQ or contact us at workshops@compasspoint.org.
